Beautiful historic cities
As a culture lover you can indulge yourself in the beautifully restored historic centres of cities such as Quito, Cuenca and Guayaquil. Stroll through the streets, visit the best museums and in the evening enjoy traditional dishes in the best restaurants. The experience of these colonial cities is complete if you stay in a hotel located in a colonial building, such as Casa Gangotena. Discover the jungle
The Amazon is located in the easternmost part of Ecuador. The rainforest covers about half of the country, is the least populated part of Ecuador and has an enormous biodiversity. The best place to visit the jungle in Ecuador is the Yasuni National Park. Special are the so-called clay walls that you can find here. In the early morning hundreds of parrot species gather in search of food. However, the Amazon in Ecuador is not only worthwhile for nature, it is also excellent for learning more about the people who live here.
The Andes, the backbone of Ecuador
While travelling through Ecuador you will certainly get acquainted with the Andes Mountains. It runs right through the country. By the way, this is not a punishment, because there is a lot to do in this area. Volcanoes, lakes and mountainous landscapes. Small lovely mountain villages, colourful markets and the population in traditional costume. To explore the area you can go mountain biking, rafting, horseback riding and hiking. Furthermore you will find on the colourful markets beautiful handicrafts made with different materials, such as wood, leather and pottery.
