3 great weeks in Brazil
From Sao Paulo we flew to Campo Grande and with a rental car we drove to Bonito, known for its water sources where you can snorkel and spot the many species of fish. After this we continued to the Pantanal, a special nature reserve. We have seen many bird species but also the anteater, giant otter and capybara. And all this at a lodge/fazenda where we could go horseback riding, fishing, hiking etc.
We flew to Foz do Iquacu, the miracle of waterfalls. You cannot miss this! We had the chance to see the waterfalls from Brazilian and Argentinean side. It is definitely worth it to watch 275 waterfalls from many view points and it gets difficult to say goodbye.

From the Foz to Porte Alegre, and by rental car via Bento Goncalves to Gramado and Cambara do Sul. Maybe an unknown area, but definitely recommended. From the wine region where the Brazilian wines are on the rise, especially the sparkling ones, to the beautiful nature reserves to visit the Fortaleza and Itaimbezinho gorges.
We then drove to the coast, the town of Praia do Rosa where we stayed for a few days in an excellent Pousada before spending the last 2 days in Rio de Janeiro. It took some time getting used to that, a busy city, but fine for two days if you want to see the highlights. Of course you should not miss the statue of Christ and the Escaderia Selaron (famous staircase with tiles by the artist Jorge Selaron). By the way, we had a nice hotel Casa Amarelo in the middle of the Santa Teresa district, centrally located to do everything in the city and good restaurants nearby. The taxi system or Uber works fine and before we got on the plane we made a bicycle tour. We chose for a 3 hour bike tour in the south of the city, along the famous beaches, sugar loaf mountain etc.

All in all a very well organized trip by Sapa Pana Travel. The contact and preparation was excellent and we received good tips. They know the country well and therefore you can compose a very nice trip tailored to your wishes. Everything was perfect; pick up and drop off airport, rental car, the nice addresses to spend the night, the excellent guides (who are helpful and friendly) etc. Upon arrival in Brazil we received an extensive travel description. Furthermore, in the south of Brazil it is safe to travel, good roads (watch out, thresholds and speed cameras), very friendly people and good food. Good to know, even for vegetarians there is plenty of choice!
