Best time to travel to Costa Rica
The best travel time for Costa Rica is all year round. Because the country is close to the equator, it is almost always warm and has only two seasons.

- The dry season runs from November to April.
- The rainy season is from May to October, but do not be deterred from travelling in the rainy season, as the showers are usually limited to the afternoon.
- The temperature varies between 25°C and 35°C throughout the year.

Direct flight with KLM
From the months of October until March, KLM offers direct flights to San Jose. These flights then continue towards Liberia in the northwest of the country.

Sea turtles lay eggs
From July to October, green and hawksbill turtles come ashore at Tortuguero to lay their eggs. In the months March until May leatherback turtles come ashore to lay their eggs.

Hatching period for turtles
From August to December, it is possible to experience the hatching period of the green sea turtle in Tortuguero. The green sea turtle is the most important turtle for the area.

Humpback whales
Costa Rica has the longest season for spotting these animals. The humpback whales from Alaska/California come here from December until March and from Antarctic areas from July until October.
