This is one of the most breathtaking places in Mexico. The area is particularly well known for the train journey that goes right through the area and takes you to the peaks from where you have a beautiful view. The landscape is unspoilt, rugged and incredibly diverse and naturally asks to be discovered. Take beautiful hikes through the region or explore the area by mountain bike. 

Sumidero Canyon National Park, located in the state of Chipas, is a nature reserve with countless waterfalls, steep rock walls and impressive cave systems. Across this area runs a geological fault line that originated millions of years ago. The walls are over 900 metres high and you will find a rich diversity of birds and monkeys. You might even spot a crocodile on the banks of the river!

The best way to discover this park is by boat on the Rio Grijalva. Cruise through the impressive canyon with its style rising cliffs and magnificent vegetation. If you scour the banks, you may see a crocodile lying there. 

One of the most special traditions celebrated throughout the country is Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). During this celebration, on 2 November and the week before, the deceased return to earth for a day to be reunited with their loved ones for a moment. From a culinary point of view, there is nothing lacking in Mexico. The most famous dishes are the fajitas, better known as the stuffed tortillas and nachos with guacamole. Besides tequila, mezcal is one of the most famous drinks in Mexico. Mezcal is also made from the agave plant, but mezcal often uses several types of agave.
