Just 30 kilometres from Panama City you will find the Gamboa rainforest resort. They will be happy to tell you more about the history of the indigenous community, their way of life and traditions.

El Valle volcano
El Valle lies in the crater of a large extinct volcano. The volcano erupted 3 million years ago with such great force that it formed a crater with a diameter of 5 kilometres. The volcano has created fertile soil. It will not surprise you that this place is known for its beautiful mountainous surroundings, but also for its friendly atmosphere, hot springs, waterfalls and 'golden' frogs.

The area forms the natural border between Panama and Colombia and is so impenetrable that the Pan-American highway is abruptly interrupted here. And as small as the country is, so remarkable is its diversity of landscapes. For example, you combine the beautiful rainforest near Darién in the same round trip with high peaks in the interior of the province of Chiriquí. The most famous place here is Boquete, from where you can undertake adventurous activities such as trekking, rock climbing, canopy and horseback riding. Moreover, Boquete lies at the foot of the almost 3500 metres high volcano Barú. If you climb this volcano on a beautiful day, you will see both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
