Buenos Aires has many faces and has something for everyone. It is a city that will not easily get bored.
The characteristic neighbourhoods of Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires is divided into several neighbourhoods, each with its own character. In the old working-class neighbourhood of La Boca you can walk through narrow alleys and past colored houses. The older neighbourhood of San Telmo is characterized by the Tango and the beautiful antique shops. The most important square in this neighbourhood is the Plaza Dorrego. Visit the Sunday morning antique market here.
The neighbourhoods Palermo, Retiro and Recoleta together form the most prosperous and also the most expensive residential and business district of Buenos Aires. There are beautiful stately houses here, in French style, from the early 1900s. In addition, you can go excellent shopping here. You will find a variety of attractive boutique hotels in historic characteristic buildings, often with modern interiors combined with classic elements. The 'Avenida 9 de Julio' is a beautiful avenue that runs through the city and has been the widest street in the world since 1936. The street is about 140 meters wide!
