The Chilean capital is a modern metropolis with over 5.5 million inhabitants. Santiago is considered a quiet and clean city, where life is good. In the centre of the city, you will find many interesting sights and several attractive parks. Wherever you are in this town, you are always surrounded by the peaks of the Andes.
Santiago de Chile
Santiago, the capital of Chile, is located at an altitude of 522 metres and was founded by Pedro de Valdivia on February 12, 1541. Pedro de Valdivia chose this location because of the climate and the ease with which the city could be defended here. Santiago has a Mediterranean climate. Hot and dry in the summer, from November to March, with around 35°C. Winter, from June to August, is mild with a maximum of around 15°C.

In the city centre you will find the presidential palace, La Moneda, the central square 'Plaza de Armas' and numerous museums. Santiago is a safe city, with a number of attractive neighbourhoods such as Providencia , Bellavista and Vitacura. The city is very green, with many leafy avenues and attractive parks such as the enormous Metropolitano city park, in which the hill Cerro San Cristóbal is also located.
