Travel itinerary
Day 1: Amsterdam - Mexico City
Today your Unique Journey to Mexico starts. You will board your intercontinental flight in Amsterdam to Mexico City conducted by Aeromexico. Here you will arrive the next day at dawn.
Day 2: Mexico City
Once you arrive at the airport, our local staff will be ready to take you to your hotel. The hotel where you are staying is located in the attractive Polanco neighbourhood where you can also find the best restaurants in the city. The rest of the morning and afternoon you will have at leisure. In the evening a special dinner is planned for you. You will be picked up at your hotel and taken to the artistic district La Roma. Here you will be pampered with a 4-course dinner prepared by renowned chefs with the best local products. Delicious wines will be served with the dishes to match each course. You will end the dinner with one of the locally known liquors, tequila or mezcal. Afterwards you will be brought back to your hotel.

Day 3: Mexico City - Historical city tour incl. National Museum of Anthropology
Today you will be picked up at your hotel and taken to the most beautiful sights in the city by a private guide. Together you will discover the colonial and revolutionary history. You will visit the metropolitan cathedral, the presidential palace where the famous Mexican artist Diego Riveira created a huge mural depicting the history of Mexico. You will be taken along some iconic streets towards the Palacio de Bellas Artes (the palace of visual arts) where you can explore the varied architecture. Finally, after lunch you will be taken to the National Museum of Anthropology, located in the beautiful city park Chapultepec. Here the anthropological history of Mexico is told from the very beginning. Afterwards you will be brought back to your hotel.

Day 4: Mexico City - Art and photography tour
In the morning your private guide will pick you up for a day dedicated to photography and art. You will visit the renowned ALMANAQUE art gallery, located in the artistic Roma district of Mexico City, where you will admire the works under the guidance of your expert guide. In this gallery different artists are exhibited, both novice and experienced photographers. After you have seen the special works, continue into the neighbourhood and visit two other art galleries. Also here you can admire the works of different artists. In between the visits you will have the opportunity to have lunch in one of the many restaurants in this lively neighbourhood. A must is the restaurant Contramar where you can eat delicious fish dishes. Specialty is the tuna fillet a la Contramar (grilled tuna covered with a sauce of chili and parsley). At the end of this day you will be brought back to your hotel.

Day 5: Mexico City - Design tour
More and more designers are coming to this city to make a name for themselves within this creative scene. Today your guide will take you to various galleries, showrooms and workshops. Here you will see the process of design up close and meet different artists, both emerging and renowned. Get inspired by the different works and the stories of the creators. You will then visit different places in the city where the works of art can be found. These are different forms of art, including sculpture, photography, video art and painting. The interesting works are made by local artists and show the diversity and creativity of the Mexican people. Your guide can tell you all about these fascinating works and the fascinating stories behind them. After this interesting tour you will be brought back to your hotel.

Day 6: Mexico City - City tour southern neighbourhoods
You will be picked up at your hotel and taken to the San Angel district. With its narrow streets paved with cobblestones and large, colourful houses, it's hard to believe that this charming neighbourhood is part of Mexico City. Walk through the streets, across the central square and learn more about the history of the area. You will continue your tour to the special district of Coyoacán. This beautiful district is dotted with colourful buildings, built in the typical Spanish style. You will also visit the famous house of Frida Kahlo, where you can admire some of her original paintings and works of art. If time permits, you can also visit the museum of Dolores Olmedo. This unique museum is housed in a 16th century building and houses an extensive collection of works by Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, supplemented by hundreds of pre-Hispanic sculptures. Afterwards you will be brought back to your hotel.

Day 7: Mexico City - Teotihuacán - San Miguel de Allende
Today you will leave Mexico City with a first stop at the beautiful archaeological area of Teotihuacán. Between the 1st and 7th century A.D. the city was built by an unknown tribe. After this, the Aztecs moved into the city. Still new discoveries are made on this archaeological site. After Teotihuacán a private transfer will take you to your accommodation in San Miguel de Allende, one of the most beautiful colonial cities of Latin America. The hotel where you will stay has striking features and is situated around a quiet courtyard like any hacienda from the colonial era. The rooms are very spacious with high ceilings and they have a beautiful colonial décor. Furthermore, you have access to three swimming pools, a garden full of tropical plants, an award-winning spa, two restaurants and a wine cellar. Moreover, a short walk will take you to the central part of the city. There is no better place to stay in San Miguel de Allende.

Day 8: San Miguel de Allende - City tour incl. tequila tasting
The best way to experience the wonders of San Miguel de Allende is on foot. Today a private guide will take you for a walk through the centre. The history and lore of San Miguel are intertwined with the movement of independence. This energy and the spirit of freedom of expression can still be seen in today's San Miguel. After your walk through the city you will be brought to Casa Dragones. This building used to house the stables of the Dragones, the rebels from San Miguel de Allende who started the movement for Mexican independence here. Today this building houses the special tasting of the eponymous Casa Dragones Tequila. With its elegant stone terrace and an outdoor tasting room, there is no better place in the afternoon to learn about tequila and learn more about the history of the rebels with a glass of Casa Dragones tequila in your hand. After this you will be taken to your hotel.

Day 9: San Miguel de Allende - The art of the craft
Today you will discover the artistic side of San Miguel de Allende. In the morning, your private guide will take you along several studios, galleries and you will get a unique insight at an art school, where you can see the students at work with local products and centuries-old techniques. You will visit Fábrica La Aurora, a fascinating complex of galleries, workshops, design studios, antique shops and much more. Located in an old textile factory, the building reflects the history of the city and its artists and craftsmen. Wander around the many corridors, shops and exhibition rooms. If time permits, your guide will also take you past several murals by local artists. An interesting day filled with art, culture and history.

Day 10: San Miguel de Allende - Cuna de Tierra vineyard
Today you have the morning off. You can spend time on the central square, visit the private gardens that the municipality has put on the map or go exploring in one of the busy markets full of handicrafts. Around noon you will be picked up at your hotel and taken to a vineyard just outside San Miguel de Allende. Upon arrival at the vineyard of Cuna de Tierra you will meet the sommelier of the winery for a welcome drink on the viewing tower. Admire the magnificent view over the rolling hills filled with vines. Afterwards you will be given a guided tour of the site, where you will learn more about the grapes and the growing and cutting process, to finish the tour in the winery, where you will see how the wine is produced. You will end this afternoon with a lunch, served by chef Carlos Segura, of course with matching wines. Afterwards you will be brought back to your hotel.

Day 11: San Miguel de Allende - Mexico City - Amsterdam
Unfortunately, your Unique Journey comes to an end today. After breakfast you will be picked up by our local staff and brought to the airport of Mexico City. This is a drive of about 3.5 to 4 hours. At the airport of Mexico City you will board your intercontinental flight to Amsterdam. You will arrive here the next day.
Day 12: Amsterdam
